The CollectionSpace project team is pleased to announce the release of CollectionSpace 0.8, which includes support for repeatable fields and fixes to a number of important bugs. The project team is moving quickly toward the 1.0 release, due at the end of summer.
The CollectionSpace project team is pleased to announce the release of CollectionSpace 0.6, which includes support for user management (user creation, editing, and deletion, and password reset), and viewing and pivoting to integrated authority terms from an object or procedural record page.
The CollectionSpace project team is pleased to announce the release of CollectionSpace 0.3, which allows users to create a new acquisition record, choose an identification number pattern for object, intake, and acquisition records, and choose items from a controlled list in intake, object, and acquisition records. Unless otherwise noted, the 0.3 release interface only allows for text entry; calendar dates, dimensions, and vocabularies will be functional beginning with release 0.4. Non-functioning elements of the interface appear in gray.
Project Description
CollectionSpace is a collaboration that brings together a variety of cultural and academic institutions with the common goal of developing and deploying an open-source, web-based software application for the description, management, and dissemination of museum collections information. This report includes an update on the project team's activities for November and December. The next update will be released Friday, January 8th.
Join project Principal Investigator Carl Goodman and Project Manager Megan Forbes at the MCN 2009 Conference in Portland, OR from November 11-14. On Thursday, November 12th, Carl will take part in the session "Doing More with Less: A Community-Software-Based Technology Strategy Roundtable," along with Christopher Mackie, Associate Program Officer, Research in Information Technology, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Alison Gilchrest, Program Associate, Museums and Art Conservation, The Andrew W.
The CollectionSpace project team is pleased to announce the release of CollectionSpace 0.2, which allows users to login to the system, create a new intake record, and auto-fill intake and object identification numbers. Information groups within data entry screens can be collapsed and expanded to maximize screen efficiency (use the plus/minus signs to the left of the information group name; e.g. object identification information). Updates to the object, create new main page, and find/edit main page are also incorporated into this release.

Our first demonstration release, CollectionSpace 0.1, aka 'Hello World,' is now available online. Release 0.1 allows users to create a new object record, view and edit existing records, and save any changes.
While modest in functionality and outward appearance, 'Hello World' and its imminent successor, er, 'Hello Moon', constitute a major milestone for CollectionSpace as we put our systems architecture in place by binding together the user interface, application, and 'services' layers, heretofore developed on parallel tracks.
